STREET style is such a part of fashion week these days that it makes sense that it should provide inspiration for many a designer collection. It is, after all, what people are wearing. But it’s always been around – it’s just more notably documented now, surfing as it does the social media wave. Back in 1980s New York it was done so by – among others – photographers Amy Arbus and Maripol. And it’s their depiction of street style that inspired the Sibling collection.
Sequin vest dresses, super fuzzy jumpers, crochet florals, scarred denim and sheer gingham, sleeves boasting spirals unravelling around them – these clothes belonged to the more interesting characters you spot on the street. But when it comes to Sibling, that is also kind of the point.
